The Full Story
We are a group of twenty board-certified and independently employed neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners (see detailed individual profiles below). Our group was founded in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in 1996—hence the name Gwinnett Neonatology (GNEO for short). However, our practice is not limited to Gwinnett County, and we are not paid directly by the hospitals where we provide services.
We offer the following services to hospitals, obstetricians, and their patients:
-
Newborn Intensive Care
-
Stable Newborn Care as part of a Family-Centered Care/Mother-Baby Unit
-
Newborn Hearing Screening
-
Prenatal Consultation for families with high-risk pregnancies
Our Mission
With compassion, expertise, and a commitment to continuous education, we accept the privilege and responsibility of delivering care to newborns. Every life entrusted to us receives the highest standard of medical protection and attention.
We are equally committed to supporting and empowering the families of our patients during the critical time surrounding birth.
We embrace partnership and team spirit with our fellow clinicians-obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatricians, family practitioners, midwives, nurses, and respiratory therapists-in order to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
Our Team is comprised of a passionate assembly of neonatologists, nurses, researchers, and parent advocates. Our team brings together a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience.
We combine the technical expertise of medical professionals with the empathetic understanding of those who've journeyed through the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) firsthand.
Our Approach:
We believe in a holistic view of neonatal care that recognizes not only the medical needs of newborns but also the emotional and psychological needs of the entire family. Our platform offers resources aimed at empowering parents and caregivers.
Engaging With Communities:
Our reach extends beyond the digital realm. We partner with hospitals, clinics, and grassroots organizations around the world to conduct workshops, support groups, and training sessions. We recognize the power of community and the difference it can make in a neonatal journey.
Advocacy and Research:
Understanding the future of neonatal care means staying at the forefront of research. We actively engage in and promote studies that seek to better the outcomes for premature and critically ill newborns. By fostering a bridge between researchers and caregivers, we hope to translate scientific breakthroughs into everyday best practices.
Inclusivity and Global Reach:
No child or parent should face the neonatal journey alone, regardless of where they are in the world. Our resources are designed to be inclusive, culturally sensitive, and available to those in all corners of the globe. We're continually working on translating our materials to make them accessible to a diverse audience.
Join Our Journey:
Whether you're a parent seeking guidance, a medical professional wishing to collaborate, or a well-wisher wanting to support our cause, we welcome you with open arms. Together, we can ensure that the tiniest members of our society receive the care, love, and support they rightfully deserve.
Thank you for being a part of our community, where every heartbeat, every breath, and every small victory is celebrated.
